Replacement with Embraer 195
In 2015 the decision was made to replace the aging Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 aircraft with Embraer 195s. The first aircraft, previously used by Lufthansa, arrived at Vienna on 31st of October 2015 and entered service in January 2016.
The whole Fokker fleet could be sold to Alliance Air in Australia for 15 million Euros. To perform and handle the transfer the Australian company founded Alliance Aviation Slovakia, which transfers all necessary technical activities to the Austrian Airlines subsidiary Austrian Technik. Until this deal was signed the first Fokker 70 was already transferred and flown to Australia. In December 2015 the first Fokker 100, OE-LVN flew there as well. As Austrian Technik, located in Bratislava in Slovakia, is highly respected as maintenance and overhaul centre for Fokker aircraft, the heavy maintenance of the now Australian aircraft will be performed in Bratislava as well in the future.
