In 2008 Francis Agullo and a group of friends and enthusiasts purchased a DC-3 which was delivered originally in 1940 to American Airlines. The aircraft was then refurbished for their new owner in Opa Locka in Florida and then handed over to the SCFA (Super Constellation Flyers Association) in May 2009. Finally, the aircraft made the long flight to its new home in Switzerland and was flown in the following years on various events and occasions.
In the time-frame from March 9th till September 12th 2017 the 77 year old aircraft then performed an advertisement tour for Breitling around the world. The second-last stop of this tour took place in Vienna, Austria from September 7th till September 9th 2017. In those three days the aircraft was used for watch and book advertisement events and hosted as well various VIP guests – and it performed two flights above Vienna.
Breitling Austria then assigned me the task to document the visit of this classic airliner with air2air photos above Austrias capital – following a comparable occasion during the visit of SCFA Constellation one year earlier. Thus we organised a photo-flight during one of those two flights above Vienna, providing the occasion for fantastic air2air photos and as well professional videos.
