The team of aviation-media.com visited this year as well some airshows – one of them being the Slovak International Air Fest, or short SIAF 2017, in Sliac, Slovak Republic.
The event, which covers displays and performance demonstrations as well as show elements, attracts thousands of people every year and was blessed this year with sun and temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. Several highlights had been announced and please the crowds – among them the Austrian Air Force with Eurofighter Typhoon, the Spanish Air Force with F/A-18 Hornet and of course the local home team with MiG-29. As special guests Airbus sent over their A380 prototype for a short but spectacular display – the aircraft included the display in a test flight from Toulouse. Furthermore the US Air Force dispatched a B-52H Stratofortress on Saturday and a B1-B Lancer on Sunday for fly-bys.
An additional highlight was the farewell flight of the Tu-154M of the Slovak Governmental Squadron which made flybys together with the replacement aircraft – Airbus A319 and Fokker F100. F
inally the show included show elements with display teams like Al Fursan or a group of enthusiasts from UK performing simulated air2air fights with World War I replica aircraft.
Overall a very pleasant, enjoyable and good organised event with a very good mix of displays and participants.
