Oberschleißheim, München Flughafen, Pömetsried und Schloß Elmau, sind die Hotspots für die Bundespolizei Fliegerstaffel Oberschleißheim bei München, während der heißen Phase zum G7 Gipfel vom 26. bis 28. Juni 2022.
Die Bundesregierung ist Gastgeber für den G7 Gipfel. Nach 7 Jahren hat Deutschland die Präsidentschaft Anfang 2022 übernommen und richtet nach 2015 den Gipfel im Schloss Elmau am Fuße des Wettersteingebirges aus.
Eine tragende Rolle kommt während des Gipfels dem Flugdienst der Bundespolizei speziell als Dienstleister für die Bundesregierung zu. Die Vorbereitungen laufen schon seit Monaten und seit dieser Woche sind Hubschrauber, Besatzungen und Bodenpersonal aus allen fünf Bundespolizei Staffeln im Einsatz.

The German Government is again host for the G7 summit. After 7 years, Germany took over the rotating presidency beginning of 2022 and invited for the second time for the summit to the Castle Elmau close to the the Wetterstein mountain ridge.
A key role in these days lies with the flying service of the Federal Police, acting as service provider for the German Government. Preparations and planning were ongoing for months and starting this week all helicopters, crews and ground personal from all five wings were on assignment.

Insgesamt ca. 25 Hubschrauber stehen für diesen Sondereinsatz bereit. Im Operationsgebiet zwischen der Basis in Oberschleißheim, dem Flughafen München Franz Joseph Strauß, dem temporären Ausweichflugplatz in Pömetsried und dem eigentlichen Veranstaltungsort Schloss Elmau werden zahlreiche Übungs- und Einweisungsflüge durchgeführt. Gerade Piloten aus den nördlichen Fliegerstaffeln werden im Gebirgsflug trainiert.
Vielfältig ist das Aufgabengebiet der Besatzungen: Je nach aktuellem Wetter werden die Delegationen mit den Staatsoberhäuptern geflogen. Der eingesetzte Hubschrauber hierfür ist die Airbus AS332L1 Super Puma. Der französische Präsident Macron fliegt ebenfalls mit einer Super Puma, allerdings von der französischen Luftwaffe. Der amerikanische Präsident setzt auf seine eigene Flotte des United States Marine Corps mit den VH-60N White Hawk und für den Secret Service CH-47F Chinook der US Army.

Overall 25 helicopters were made available for this special operation. In the operational area between the homebase Oberschleißheim, the airport of Munich, the temporary diversion airfield Pömetsried and the summit location Castle Elmau itself, many training and familiarisation flights had to be performed. Especially pilots from the wings in Northern Germany had to be re-trained on mountain flying as well.
The mission spectrum for the crews is highly divers: Depending on the weather, the head of states and their delegations are shuttled by helicopter with the Airbus AS332L1 Super Puma helicopter. The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, was flying as well with a Super Puma, but using an aircraft from the French Air Force. The President of the United States uses – as usual – his own fleet of United States Marine Corps VH-60N White Hawks and in addition CH-47F Chinooks of the US Army for the Secret Service.

Überwachungs- und Aufklärungsflüge werden mit entsprechend ausgerüsteten Hubschraubern wie der Airbus EC135 T2+ und der EC155B durchgeführt. Wenn es die aktuelle Lage erfordert und Einsatzkräfte schnell verlegt werden müssen, kommen auch hier die Super Puma zum Einsatz.
Darüber hinaus wird dadurch die Landespolizei und das Bundeskriminalamt unterstützt, welches für den Schutz der Gäste des Gipfels verantwortlich ist. Darüber hinaus sei erwähnt, dass die Flugbetriebsversorgungsdienste, Technik und Instandsetzung, Verpflegung der Einsatzkräfte etc. durch die Fliegerstaffel in Oberschleißheim und der Bundespolizeidirektion München gewährleistet wird.

Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions are completed with specially equipped helicopters like the Airbus EC135 T2+ or the EC155B. If the actual situation requires the transfer of police forces and service personal, Super Pumas are used besides their other assignments also for this mission profile.
Besides, the Police of the Federal State (in this case Bavaria) and the Federal Criminal Police Office are supported likewise, as the protection of the officials lies within their responsibility. To complete the picture, the service personal for the flying operations, technical and repair teams, food provision and other services are ensured and provided by the Wing in Oberschleißheim and the Federal Police Office in Munich.

Als Stützpunkt vor den Bergen für Versorgungs-, Rettungs- und Einsatzflüge dient der Segelflugplatz Ohlstadt-Pömetsried der Sportfliegergruppe Werdenfels e.V.. Der kleine Flugplatz liegt südöstlich von Murnau am Staffelsee. Für den Flugbetrieb während des Gipfels ist der Flugplatz umfangreich abgesperrt und gesichert. In unmittelbarer Nähe zum Schloss wurde ein temporärer Landeplatz errichtet. Er befindet sich innerhalb des Sicherheitsbereiches um den Tagungsort.
Mit insgesamt etwa 20.000 Polizisten ist der G7-Gipfel einer der größten Polizeieinsätze in Bayern. Die Bundespolizei setzt im eigentlichen Einsatzgebiet ca. 2.500 Beamte ein. Dazu stehen etwa 1.500 Einsatzkräfte der Hilfsorganisationen, Feuerwehren und dem Technischen Hilfswerk zur Verfügung. Auch auf österreichischer Seite sind aufgrund der grenznahen Lage zum Schutz der Veranstaltung über 2.000 Polizeibeamte im Einsatz.

The small airstrip Ohlstadt-Pömetsried, home of the flying club Werdenfels e.V., was used as operational base close to the mountains for the replenishment, rescue and operational missions. The small airfield is located to the southeast of Murnau on the Staffel Lake. During the summit, the area was widely secured and closed for the public. In addition, a temporary airfield was set-up close to the castle, within the security perimeter of the summit location.
Calling to service more than 20.000 police officers, the G7 summit is one of the largest police missions in Bavaria. Of those, the Federal Police uses within the mission area approximately 2.500 officials. In addition, around 1.500 service personal of support organisations, fire services and the Technical Support Service are available. Furthermore, 2.000 police officers in Austria were assigned to the summit due to the close proximity of the venue to the German-Austrian border.
