Wucher & HeliSwiss - Mission Brandnertal 2022
Einsatz für Wucher Helikopter und Heliswiss am Lünersee im Brandnertal. Für die Erforschung der Gegend und zur Anlieferung des Equipments stellt Heliswiss eine Kampf Ka-32 und Wucher eine AS350B3 bereit.
Beim Bau eines unterirdischen Kraftwerks spielt die Geologie eine entscheidende Rolle. Zahlreiche Forscher(innen) haben sich schon in der Vergangenheit mit dem Berggrat zwischen dem Lünersee und dem kleinen Valkastiel beschäftigt. Dieser besteht zum Großteil aus kalkalpinen Gesteinsserien, die von der Trias bis in die Kreide reichen. Um sich ein genaues Bild der geologischen Verhältnisse machen zu können, führt die illwerke vkw ab Sommer 2022 Erkundungsbohrungen durch. Die aufwendigen Bohrungen finden an sechs verschiedenen, sorgfältig ausgewählten Stellen über den Gebirgszug verteilt statt. Ziel der mehrere hundert Meter tiefen Bohrungen ist es, anhand der Bohrkerne wesentliche Aufschlüsse über die Gesteinsschichten und das Bergwasser zu erhalten. Zusätzlich werden an Ort und Stelle unterschiedliche Versuche im Bohrloch durchgeführt. Die Bohrungen haben einen Durchmesser von rund 10 bis 24 cm. Die Bohrlöcher bleiben zum Großteil als sogenannte Piezometer zur Überwachung und Dokumentation des Bergwasserspiegels erhalten. Aus allen gewonnenen Ergebnissen wird zusammen mit Informationen aus Oberflächenaufschlüssen und bereits bestehenden Untertagebauwerken der illwerke vkw ein geologisches, geomorphologisches und hydrogeologisches Modell erstellt.
In support of a research project within the area and to transport the necessary equipment, Heliswiss dispatched a Kamow Ka-32 and Wucher an Airbus Helicopter AS350B3.
To design the construction of an underground powerplant, the responsible engineers need to understand the geological situation at the location. Many researchers and scientists had already performed initial analysis of the mountain ridge between the Lake Lüner and the Lake Valkastiel, which consist mainly from chalk-alpine rocks, originating from Trias till Cretaceous period. To develop a precise and clear picture of the geological situation, the illwerke vkw performed research drills starting in summer 2022. These elaborate drills took place on six carefully selected positions across the ridge. Main goal of this approach, which reached down several hundred metres, was to obtain a clear picture of the different layers of rocks and water within the mountains. In addition, several specific tests were performed within the drill holes. Measuring between 10 and 24 centimetres in width, the holes remained open after the completion of the drills as piezometer tubes, to control and document the level of water within the mountains. Once combining all the results with information from surface reviews and existing underground construction results from illwerke vkw, a geological, geomorphological and hydrogeological model is created.
Eine besondere Herausforderung ist dabei die Zugänglichkeit der Bohrstandorte. Neben einer aufwendigen Baustelleneinrichtung ist die Energieversorgung der Baubereiche besonders zentral. Das für die Bohrungen benötigte Wasser wird mittels Pumpen und temporären Schlauchleitungen zum Standort geführt. Die gesamte Baustelleneinrichtung besteht aus kleinstmöglichen Einheiten und wird mittels Hubschrauber an den Bestimmungsort transportiert und dort auf- und zusammengebaut. Aufgrund der Hochgebirgslage kann ausschließlich in den Sommermonaten gearbeitet werden. Erforderlichenfalls müssen die Baufelder im Herbst geräumt und im Frühjahr neu aufgebaut werden.
A special concern for such projects is always the accessibility of the locations for the drilling operations. Next to the elaborate equipment of such a work site, the energy and consumption supply is of utmost importance. Water, which is needed in significant amounts for the drilling, needs to be provided by pumps and temporary built up pipe systems to the drill hole. For the transport by helicopter, the whole equipment is split up in small units, lifted to the work site and then set-up and if necessary re-assembled. Due to the location high up in the mountains, the whole procedure could only be performed in the summer months. In case the research work cannot be completed in time, the work sites have to be closed, the equipment de-assembled and returned to the valley in autumn for a return in spring.
Für den Projektentwickler steht in diesen Tagen auch eine gute Kommunikation im Fokus: Dazu wird ein intensiver Informationsaustausch mit am Projekt Beteiligten gepflegt. Jüngstes Beispiel sind Treffen mit allen Hüttenbewirtschaftern im Projektgebiet, mit Anrainern oder Offiziellen der beteiligten Gemeinden. Diese liefern auch wertvollen Input, der in die Planungen einfließen kann. Am Ende der Arbeiten existiert ein umfassendes Bild über die Beschaffenheit des Projektgebiets. Und mit diesem Wissen kann es weitergehen – geradewegs in die Energiezukunft Vorarlbergs.
Die AS350 wird natürlich für kleinere Lasten und den Personentransport genutzt, die Kamov für schwere Gerätschaften und große Baucontainer. Teilweise stehen bis zu 35 Lifts mit der Kamov auf dem Halbtagesplan. Begünstigt durch das gute Wetter lief alles nach Plan. Und durch die optimale Planung und Organisation konnte der Auftrag auch ohne größere Strassensperrungen oder sonstige Beeinträchtigungen die Anwohner und Besucher in der beindruckenden Kulisse des Brandnertales durchgeführt werden.

For the project manager, an efficient and precise communication with all stakeholders involved in the project is key. This includes for example as well meetings with the operators of mountain cottages in the researched area or local residents and officials of impacted communities. All these people can provide as well valuable input based on their local knowledge, which can be included in the planning. As final output, a comprehensive and extensive picture on the overall situation within the project area is made available. And based on this knowledge the project can continue – towards the future energy service for Vorarlberg region.
The AS350 operated by Wucher Helicopters is used for smaller loads and people transport, the Kamov for heavy lifts, machinery and large work site containers. Up to 35 lifts with the Kamov helicopter were planned for the day. Due to the perfect weather, there were no delays. And as everything was planned in detail in advance, the whole operation could be completed without blocking roads or other disturbances for local residents and visitors in the imposing environment of the Brandner Valley.
